Packers Rock the Rockets

The Packers played their best game of the year at home on Friday night, beating what was undefeated, ranked, Rochester John Marshall team 68 to 57.  The Packers moved the ball well and used their pressure defense to force JM into 23 turnovers in the game.  The gym was full and the Austin fans were loud and cheered the Packers on to a very exciting victory.

To quote Rocky Hulne in today’s Herald “The Packers may be sitting at .500, but their three losses are by a combined six points and their three wins are by a combined 40 points.”

Packers fall to the Raiders

The Packers started strong last night at home versus the Northfield Raiders, leading 33-23 at the half.   However, they were unable to close out the game and lost to Northfield 56-57, falling to 2 and 2 in the Big 9 and 2 and 3 overall.  The Packers were led in scoring by Senior Nik Gasner with 13.

The Packers return to the court on Friday night for a home matchup with a tough John Marshall team.

Packers Win at Mayo

The Packers went on the road Friday night and beat the Mayo Spartans 64 to 50.  Austin had a balanced scoring night led by Senior Levi Vierkandt with 14 points.  The boys started fast and kept the pressure on Rochester Mayo all night.  Austin led by as much as 14 points early in the game but ended up leading 28 to 22 at the half.  The Pack started fast again in the second half and controlled the rest of the game.  The game had several highlights, most notably a Gach to Gach break away dunk.

Packers fall to New Prague

The Packers started slow at home vs a good New Prague team and had an uphill battle all night.  The Packers played much better but could not hold the lead in the game and ended up losing 56-58.  Each time Austin came back and took the lead, New Prague answered.  Both Gach, a freshman on the team, came off the bench and led Austin in scoring with 18 points.  The Packers hit the road Friday night, Dec. 5th, as they take on the Rochester Mayo.  Read more about the game in the Austin Daily Herald.  You can see the video highlights here

Packers come up short on the road

The Austin Packers suffered an overtime loss, 35 to 38 at Faribault on Tuesday night.  While the defense kept them in the game, they could not get their shots to fall going 3 for 25 from 3pt range.  You can read about the game from the Herald.  See the game highlights here.  The Packers look to rebound on Thursday night when they host New Prague at 7:30pm.
