Highlights of Packers’ 2OT Win over Albert Lea

13 Dec

Tuesday night’s game lasted until nearly 10 p.m., so we were limited to posting just the last-second shot that gave the Packers the 72-71 win. Here are some other high points from the night:

Some on Twitter have questioned whether Zach Wessels should have been charged with an offensive foul just before his game winner. Obviously the officials didn’t see it that way, and in a game that lasts 44 minutes and includes scores of judgment calls by officials it is illegitimate to single out one just because it was the last.

But in case anyone is inclined to make such an argument, here’s a close-up from the frame grab of the last-second Albert Lea shot at the end of regulation, which was ruled a three and sent the game into overtime. The full photo is here on our Facebook page. Here’s the zoomed-in look at the Tiger’s paw on the line:

Congratulations to Albert Lea on a hard-fought, well-played game. They are much improved over last year, and showed it both in this game and by beating New Prague on Dec. 4. The Packers will need to bring their “A” game on Feb. 9 when the teams meet again in Austin.
