Packers down Falcons to move to 2-0.

Packers win 57-46. The Pack overcame another slow start to move to 2-0 on the year with a win over the Faribault Falcons. The Packers were led by Jace Murray with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. Douth Gach had 11 points and 3 steals. Mark Manyoun had 8 points and 4 boards. Tate Hebrink had 5 points, 5 steals and 5 assists.

The Falcons were led by Kade Hart who finished with 18 points and 13 rebounds. The Packers forced 25 turnovers on the night.  Here is a link the the Austin Daily Herald article.  The Packers next game is Friday, December 4th at home vs. Rochester Mayo.

Packers win!

The Packers started slow but eventually wore down Kasson to win 74-60.  The Packers pressure forced Kasson into numerous turnovers which led to many easy points.  The Packers had balanced scoring led by Mark Manyoun with 20.

Season Opener Tuesday!

The Packer boys basketball team will open their season Tuesday at home vs. the Kasson Mantorville Komets.  Last year the Packers season ended in a first round section loss to the Komets.  The game will start at 7:30 in Packer Gymnasium.  The Packers have one of their deepest teams in years.  Fans can expect to see many different players making contributions during the season.

Pancake Breakfast Saturday

The Austin boys basketball team will host a Pancake Breakfast, Saturday Nov. 21, 2015 at the Austin Eagles Club 510 Oakland Ave. East.  The meal will be served from 8 to 11 am.  Tickets will be available at the door for $6 a piece.  Come meet this year’s team!  All funds raised go to support the team.

Packer Year End Awards & Hoops for Hope Donation

The Packers held their year end award celebration Sunday night.  The season ended too soon for the Packers, who finished 14-13 on the season.  Twelve of their losses were by an average of 4 points or less.  Each coach reviewed their team’s successful season.  The future definitely looks bright as the Freshman, B Team and JV Teams all finished at the top of the Big 9 standings.

Awards given out were to

Gach Gach – All Big 9 Conference

Levi Vierkandt – Honorable Mention Big 9 Conference.

Team awards went to:

Gach  Gach –  Mr. Defensive Award

Gach Gach – Point leader 14.5 ppg avg.

Zach Coffey – Assist leader – 3.7 assists per game

Levi Vierkandt –  Field Goal shooting percentage leader –  49% from the floor

Duoth Gach –  Free Throw Ladder Champ

Special Recognition was also given to the seniors, Jon Knorr, Noah Brehmer, Connor Bollum, Levi Vierkandt, Nik Gasner and Gach Gach.  Thank you Seniors for your leadership and commitment.

HOOPS FOR HOPE DONATION!

Recently, the Paint the Town Pink Donation was made from the Fast Break Club and the Packer Captains to the Hormel Institute.  A total of over $1400 dollars was raised from T-shirt sales, donations and the Half time Hoop shoot in the fight against Cancer.  Thank you to all of the fans that made this possible!
