Packers improve to 8-1

The Austin boys traveled to Winona State Friday night to play 8-0 P-E-M in the Warrior Club Holiday Basketball Tournament. The Packers built a 38-21 halftime lead and won 71-54. Four players scored in double figures.

The team will be back in action 5:00 Saturday night at Winona State, playing their second game of the tournament against 7-1 Kaukauna WI.

Packers beat Red Wing 53-37

The Austin Boys hosted Red Wing Friday night and came away with a convincing victory raising their overall record to 7-1, 3-0 in the section. For the third straight game the Pack did not allow their opponent to score over 40 points.

The team will be back in action Friday December 27th and  Saturday the 28th playing in the Warrior Classic at Winona State University. Varsity will play 5th ranked class 2A Plainview-Elgin-Millville on friday and Kaukauna WI on Saturday. Both games are at 5:00. JV will have games at 12:40 on Friday and 1:40 on Saturday.

Packers 6-1 after Mankato East win

Austin defeated Mankato East at home Thursday night in Big Nine conference action 62-29.

The Packers used smothering defense and red hot shooting to jump out to a 40-16 halftime score and pushed the lead to 38 points with five minutes left in the game. Five players scored in double figures.

The Packers will be back in action tonight- Friday, December 20th, at home against section rival Red Wing. Lets pack the gym.

Austin tops Century

The Austin Packer Boys Basketball team continued their strong start to the season with a 64-40 win over Rochester Century Tuesday night at Packer gym. The Packers lead by 14 points at half and cruised to a 24 point win. Read more about the victory in the Austin Daily Herald.  The win improves their record to 5-1 including wins over New Prague, Marshall, Albert Lea, Mankato West and a 3 point loss to Bloomington Kennedy. The Packers will be back in action Thursday night December 19th against Mankato East and Friday December 20th vs Red Wing, both home games. Here are the highlights from the Century game:

Packers Win Home Opener

A strong finish by the Packers sealed the victory for their first home game of the year. The stands were full of Packer fans wanting to see their home town team win and they were not disappointed.  We are still working out the video highlight features, but see the  Austin Daily Herald for the recap of the game.  In case you missed it, here is another great story  from the Herald on the magical ride the basketball team has been on.

Next game is on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 am at Minnetonka HS.  The boys will play Bloomington Kennedy in the Breakdown Classic.

Next week the boys have 3 home games, Tuesday vs Rochester Century, Wednesday vs Mankato East and Friday against another ranked opponent, Red Wing.  All game times are at 7:30 pm
