The Packers have struggled on the road but return to Austin to host the Mayo Spartans this Friday.  These are a great group of guys who go out each week and play with a passion that says – “We aren’t quitting!”  So let’s wear our “red” and show our good, old fashioned, home town, Austin Packer Pride!

Austin Packers vs Owatonna Huskies

17 Dec

The Packers hung on in the first half, but after losing two Austin players to foul trouble the #5 ranked Huskies were too much to handle down the final stretch.  James Maxfield scored a team high 10 points for the Pac pounding the boards.  The team again had fairly balanced scoring with John Stevens 9, Peter Swan 8, Bouy Bichok 8, Nick Stackenwalt 7, Tyler Christiansen 7 and Kevin Hermann 3 for a final score 52-64.  The Packers will play in a holiday tourney at Lakeville South High School on December 28th.  Austin plays Shokopee at 6 pm.  See you there.

Packers take control of Fairbault

14 Dec

Austin Packer fans were loud and excited on Tuesday night for a reason.  The Packers are unbeaten at home.  They took on Fairbault for their second home win.  Highlights include the athletic play of senior Buoy Bichok who ended the night netting 18 points.  John Stevens poured in 16 points including three 3-pointers plus three consecutive free throws.  Tyler Christiansen’s shooting was silent but deadly with 8 points on the night.  James Maxfield came out to play “hard” finishing with 8.  Nick Stackenwalt 7, Tyler Heiny 4, Kevin Herrmann 3 and Peter Swan 2 rounded out the scoring for a final 66 to 44 victory over Fairbault.   Austin (2-2) will head to Owatonna for what will be a BIG GAME on Friday night.   Let’s pack our stadium cushions and Packer Pride as we head north to Huskie country!

Packers vs Mayo

10 Dec

The Pac hit the floor at Mayo High School and held the scoring of Mayo’s big boys, Hicks and Kuipers, in the first half.  The hot hand of John Stevens scored Austin’s first 13 points of the game. The Packers played with intensity scoring five consecutive points in the second half. With seven minutes left in the game, Hicks made a controversial dunk from a teammate’s miss that appeared to be in the cylinder. The Packers played great defense but could not hang on for the win as the buzzer sounded with a score of 53-40. The Packers are 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big Nine. They host Faribault at home on Tuesday night.  Let’s fill the gym and make some noise!
