Austin Packers vs Owatonna Huskies

17 Dec

The Packers hung on in the first half, but after losing two Austin players to foul trouble the #5 ranked Huskies were too much to handle down the final stretch.  James Maxfield scored a team high 10 points for the Pac pounding the boards.  The team again had fairly balanced scoring with John Stevens 9, Peter Swan 8, Bouy Bichok 8, Nick Stackenwalt 7, Tyler Christiansen 7 and Kevin Hermann 3 for a final score 52-64.  The Packers will play in a holiday tourney at Lakeville South High School on December 28th.  Austin plays Shokopee at 6 pm.  See you there.

I can’t wait for the day when Austin beats the Huskies and that day is nearing. If not this year at home, certainly next year. Without an outside shooter and penetrator in Lundberg, the Huskies will have to rely on Melcher and Steinbauer in the post. Frustrate them with defensive fronting and box outs and we shouldn’t have a problem with them.

Now lets pick up some wins at home with Albert Lea and New Prague. beating West tonight will be a challenge.

Go Pack. Congrats to Pete Swan for last second herorics over Lourdes. Well-deserved.
