The Packers started slow on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Albert Lea. With 8 minutes left in the first half, they trailed the Tigers 8-3.
Then they went on a 25-0 run and put the game away by halftime. Smothering defense and solid outside shooting were keys to the 66-41 victory.
Tom Aase led the Packers with 12 points, while Zach Wessels had 11, Jay Ettinger 10, Andrew Kaiser 9, Joe Aase, 9, Zach Fadness 6, Colin Weisert 3, Matt Duren 2, Nate Schwab 2 and Caleb Knorr 2.
Several Fast Break Club member are on a road trip today to watch Packer Alum Connor Gunderson and his St. Olaf teammates take on Carleton.
The Oles are down 49-26 at halftime. We’re rooting for a comeback.
Update: The Oles made it a good game, holding Carleton to 23 points in the second half. They were within three in the final seconds, and had one last chance to send it to overtime. The shot, and the rally, fell short as the Knights won the game 72-69.

The Packers swept two home games on Friday and Saturday night, beating Mankato West 52-47 and then following with a 58-49 win over previously undefeated Caledonia, ranked third in the state in Class AA.
In the Friday night game, the game was close throughout, with the Packers maintaining a slight lead most of the way. The score was tied at 39 with seven minutes to play, and the Packers played tough to seal the win. Zach Wessels led the Pack with 16 points, while Matt Duren had 12, Joe Aase and Tom Aase 8 each and Zach Fadness and Jay Ettinger with 4 apiece. The Austin Post-Bulletin and Daily Herald have recaps.
On Saturday, the Packers were down 17-8 early before they got the offense going and clamped down on defense. They were down by 3 at the half and continued the pressure, eventually building a 15-point margin. Tom Aase and Matt Duren each had 13 points to pace the Packers, while Joe Aase had 10, Zach Fadness 9, Jay Ettinger and Zach Wessels 5 each and Andrew Kaiser 3.

The Packers are now 5-6 overall, and 4-2 in the Big 9 Conference. Next up is another conference matchup Tuesday at Albert Lea.
